Every year, I fly more than 50 times and definitely SHE has become a legend in my travel records.
She is a ground staff at the check-in counter of SriLankan Airlines at Narita Airport, but she is not an official employee of SriLankan Airlines and she works for IACT (International Air Cargo Terminal Co.,Ltd) which is an international air cargo handling, surface transportation of cargo and ground handling service company (www.iactcgo.co.jp/airlines.html).
Yes, it means she is just a temporary staff and after finishing SriLankan Airlines passengers’ check-in task, she would be dispatched to another check-in counter for serving other airlines.
Well, it happened when she measured my luggage. I had 2 suitcases and I wanted to check my big baggage and brought small one into the ship. After measuring the large one, she asked me to let her measure the small one. At that moment, a question came up in my heart. Why? Is SriLankan Airlines a LCC (Low Cost Carrier)? Actually, it was my first time to be ordered to do that by a FSC (Full Service Carrier). My small luggage was 8.4 kg and she said you should make it less than 7 kg. OMG! How come? I lost my words and asked her that “Is emerald member same?”, then she returned me a strong punch. “Economy class is economy class”.
What a bullshit! I just thought maybe SriLankan Airlines provides more weight to frequent passengers, but I have never thought I would be insulted like that. I don’t know how she thinks about economy class passengers, but I really wanted to tell her that even economy class passengers, we paid money for service. I don’t want to say she should treat me as a king because I am the highest status holder of oneworld, but I am sure such an awful insult and ugly face would never come from a well-educated ground staff. Anyway, I really had a bad time and maybe next time TG is another choice for me.
